I dismissed the whiskey sour for the longest time because, 1. I had no idea what it actually was, and 2. because I stereotyped it as an “old man” drink. But, I ordered one on a whim a couple months ago and have been in love with them ever since.
This take on the classic has been my favorite yet. There’s nothing involving Meyer lemons that I’m not in love with. I’m even growing some on a tiny little tree that I picked up at the local greenhouse a few months ago, and waiting (impatiently) for the first one to turn.
1 Meyer lemon
Agave nectar
Your whiskey or bourbon of choice
Orange juice
Sour mix (I found this lemon sour mix with bitters at Whole Foods and it’s amazing)
-Slice the lemon in half. Peel one half and save the other. Small dice the peeled half and muddle it in the bottom of your glass.
-Add 2 shots of bourbon, 4.5 of orange juice, and 2 of sour mix to your shaker. Add a tablespoon or so of agave to the shaker.
-Shake and pour over ice. Garnish with a slice of the lemon that you reserved earlier.
Cheers!
